Our next reunion will be at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in Reno, NV. Roy Meadows has volunteered to coordinate this event. The dates for the reunion are June 12-16, 2011. The website for the Atlantis Resort is  www.atlantiscasino.com

Room Information

All Rooms have been blocked off and reserved. We will be staying in the Deluxe Tower of the resort.

The price, including tax and resort fee, is $79.97 a night. There maybe upgrades available in different towers. The prices are higher than the Deluxe Tower where the rooms have been blocked off. May 19, 2011 is the cutoff date to make your reservations with the Group Discount. If you use a credit card to reserve your room, you will not be charged until you arrive. Cancellation policy allows you to cancel up till 24 hours in advance, without being penalized with any charges.

Hotel Shuttle

The local airport is the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). The hotel has a free shuttle every day, running every 30 minutes, from 0500 to 0100. The hotel is about 1.5 miles away. If you want to make your reservations or have any questions, please call the Reservation Desk at 800-723-6500, and identify yourself as being with the USS Sam Rayburn group

Letter From The President

Hello Shipmates,

    I thought it was time to try to get in touch and let you all know that the Sam Rayburn Association was alive and well along with bringing you up to date on a couple of items. 

    First, it is felt that you all heard that the last reunion in Texas was a great success.  The Plaque was installed on the Memorial Wall with the appropriate ceremony.  However, and I mean a big however, it was noted that there were some errors on it which required that it be replaced.  It has been replaced and the one with errors will be returned to the SRA with the possibility that it may be raffled off at the next reunion.

     Which is a good lead in to the second item of concern, and that is to remind all our shipmates, that the next reunion will be hosted by Roy Meadows in Reno, Nevada.  Preliminary information will be posted on our web site at www.ssbn635.org and will be updated as time goes on.  Start saving your pennies and no excuses will be accepted for not attending.  Let’s face it, we are not getting any younger and meeting old shipmates may be on a limited time bases.

For All The RV'ers

Reservations have been made for Doc Rushing. Lorin Chatwin, Earl Johnson, Jim Darr, John Nicol and myself Jay McNelly. If anybody else needs to make a reservation you can call Bordertown RV Resort directly. The Reservation Number is 800-218-9339. The contacts are Elaine or Carrie. They are very pleasant to work with. Camping prices are $28 per night or $168 per week. That includes full hook-up with 50 amp service, cable and free WiFi. So far most are planning on staying for the week from the 10th of June and leave on the 17th.
